Description: This mobilization and mutual learning workshop aimed to discuss the topic of Green Banking among different stakeholders in the field of European and national public policy, private banking, and bio-economy. Namely the following discussants took part in the panel discussion: Lívia Vašáková, Head of Economic Analyses Section, European Comission; Klaudia Drábiková, 1st Deputy CEO 365.bank; Gabriela Mezeiová, PEDAL Consulting, BIOBRIDGES project; Miloš Blanárik, Prvá stavebná sporitelňa; Lucia Kopiarová, Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic, Expert on Sustainable finance; Daniel Ács, Internationalisation Responsible, Slovak Bioeconomy Cluster. Representatives of local governments, industry, research institutions, and civic organizations participated at the event in order to gain insight on the topic of green banking.
The panel discussants were asked the following questions:
What is the direction of green thinking in banks?
How is green policy applied in Slovakia and how do clients identify with it?
Do clients prefer the electronic statements or not printing of confirmation?
What are the other options which green banking offers?
Is the Slovak market ready for green banking products (green loans, operational financing green deposits)?
What do green funds and bonds present?
How can banks align their “Green KPIs” in the context of the Slovak Bioeconomy Strategy which is currently under preparation?
What percentage of the “Green loans” could be allocated to the support of bio-based companies?
Which types of incentives can they concretely offer?
What are the minimum conditions for the bioeconomy actors (farmers, BBP producers, processing industry, brands, etc.) to be eligible for such funding?
How can we create synergies with other green funds and loans available through EŠIF?
The third annual fin.techsummit created an opportunity for open discussions about the future of financial services that are heavily impacted by new technologies and digitalization.
In scope of the Summit, the Side event on Green banking, looking for answers, among others to the following question: "How can green banking support the implementation of the upcoming Slovak Bioeconomy Strategy?", nicely fit into the "C2 challenge" identified in the project.
