The Single Use Plastics (SUP) directive will be applied to ban single use plastics in Europe. The objective is to reduce the amount of fossil-based plastics for e.a. food packaging and single-used disposables in favour of more recycled sources and bio-based plastics. My question is whether you consider the SUP an incentive for the market uptake of biobased biodegredable plastics?

What about a carbon subsidy if products have a negative CO2 balance? In the Netherlands, some neighbourhoods offer a subsidy for solar panels, but this could be also relevant for natural insulation.

With the importance of raising awareness of environmental protection through the use of these bio-based products, it should be a requirement to demonstrate the sustainable origin of the raw material. This should be through an easily recognisable and harmonised label for all European countries. In addition, people should know that label and know what the standards are so that it can be placed on a product.
